I wasn't sure if there was going to be Part 2 of my annual look at fall foliage around Lorain County, thanks to the wind and rain we've experienced recently. But I grabbed what photos I could during my travels in the past few weeks and present them here now, in order. As you will see, I tend to go down to Mill Hollow and the Bacon Woods a lot, to walk the trails. The colors are muted but still nice.

I've done this a few times before, so feel free to check out some of the past autumns including
Mohican State Forest in 2024; Mill Hollow in
2023 and
2022; Fall Foliage in
2021;
Mill Hollow Revisited in 2020; and
2018, which seems to have some of the best color and biggest variety of locations.
Dan, the tree in your first picture is a popular photo subject. My mother lives on that corner and regularly posts pics of "tree" on her Facebook page.
ReplyDeleteHi Dave, thanks for leaving the comment! That tree is great, it's so magnificent and its color in the fall is always fantastic! I'll have to check out your Mom's FB page!
DeleteI keep a running commentary on Tree year 'round. The posts are pretty popular!
DeleteDespite the late summer drought, we still had plenty of autumn color - beautiful photos! I just realized - that quarry where you live, Dan, is where my mom and her sisters used to ice skate in the early ‘50’s. I have a couple old photos of them as teens, in their wool scarves and hand knitted mittens, skating at the quarry. They lived at Elberta Beach and my mom liked to reminisce about the fun times they had growing up there…including floating down a little creek in her swimsuit - all the way to the beach.
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy! That's so cool that your Mom used to skate on the frozen quarry. My condo faces it and I never get tired of looking at it (once the leaves fall and I can see it!). The water always attracts lots of wildlife: ducks, geese, owls, frogs, deer, you name it!
DeleteNice pics, Dan! Thanks as always.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Buster!
