1966 Lorain County Fair

Sixty years ago, the 1966 Lorain County Fair was taking place. The Lorain Journal seemed to make a special effort to cover it well, perhaps to let the Chronicle-Telegram know who's boss. Plenty of Fair photographs graced the pages of the paper each day.

Headliner that year was Eddy Arnold. Also of interest: Mayor Mathna milks a cow; and a French teenager visits the Fair and offers his observations.

  1. I actually made it to the Fair that year; one thing I remember was a Ford Mustang covered in suede on exhibit.

  2. Dad had a whole bunch of Eddie Arnold records, but preferred his more country tunes, like. The Last word in Lonesome is 'Me', - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGQ0jimmniY - that album cover, I remember clear as day!
