I learned how to skip stones at that creek, too.<br /><br />We also used to ride in the field south of Emerald Valley where St James Reserve was later developed, and in the woods across Leavitt where Walmart now stands. They weren't very big, but really good. The...I remember the fossils on the huge rock, too. There were so many on there that I grew up thinking that fossils weren't all that unique or surprising. One day a neighbor who lived up on Temple a few blocks west came chugging up on a small bulldozer, picked up the rock and away he went! I told Mom that he was stealing our rock, but she said it wasn't ours and there was nothing we could do about it.
